While you’re here you won’t want to miss the Oregon Zoo.  Open since the late 1800’s, the Oregon Zoo has been amazing visitors throughout the years with its unbelievable collections of wildlife.  You will see animals from almost every part of the world even as distant as the Arctic.  The zoo was started by Richard Knight, who was an avid animal collector.  Once his collection got too large to handle in the back of his drugstore he was able to move it City Park until eventually it placed on a new and larger piece of land of its own.  The animal exhibits are truly spectacular and the staff provides guests with a great learning experience.  There are many lectures and programs given regarding the importance of conservation for the animals and our planet.  If you’re looking for a day of true enjoyment then don’t pass up the opportunity to visit the Oregon Zoo.
